If you want to know what Donald Trump is really up to, never go to the Fake News.
My own interest in Trump was incidentally piqued during the Republican primaries. I got a little giddy listening to him take down Guac Bush in front of that #NeverTrump crowd.
Telling Hilldawg she was going to prison sealed my eternal love for the man.
My own history is that I have been a Reagan guy since the 80s. My American social studies teacher at the fundamentalist Christian school I attended got me to follow the Reagan-Mondale race. Oh glory days!
My belief in Reagan carried over to the Bushes, and I was one of many Iraq War boosters who were caught out by a pack of lies, became cynical, and decided that there wasn’t any diff between the Right and Left. America seemed lost, and I lost interest.
Trump was like a breath of life, and I wanted to know more about him.
From the very start it was completely obvious that Google would never aggregate the man an honest news headline, so I had to dig deeper. What I found was pretty weird on the face of it.
Trump culture was anime culture.
This could have been a deal-breaker. My slender experience with weebs was one house-mate way back from once upon a time in the 90s. Not a bad chap, but kinda …. different. Watched a lot of anime. Ate a lot of Nutella.
I was not predisposed to like anime, but I persevered, and bought subscriptions to Anime Lab and etc. for muh Playstation.
Just to find out what the bloody heck these kids were talking about, mind you.
As it turns out, I quite enjoy having the comfy theme music from a Non Non Biyori or Assassination Classroom playing in the background while I multi-task.
Who would have thought that Japanese cartoons make an excellent white noise while I work late on my various projects?
So that’s how I became a reluctant weeb.
Hey look, it’s way less degenerate for the kids than Disney.
So thank you r/The_Donald and Trumpgen.
I still have no idea what an Awoo is though.
Full disclosure: John Miller’s IRL name is Frank Faulkner. I currently live in Australia and I write about things that concern me as a Christian, or as a cranky guy. These days I spend all my spare time defending the best (and only worthy) President of the United States since Reagan. Totally worth it. Bring back that 80s prosperity and the Moral Majority, Mr President. Christians4Trump. MAGA.
