London was culturally enriched this evening, with Black Cab terror in tourist hotspot Covent Garden. At least one screaming victim is still trapped under the assault vehicle as I type, after a London cabbie took on the New York Uber terrorist challenge.
Mounting the pavement and ploughing into pedestrians in Central London is fine though. As London police have been quick to point out, this is PROBABLY just all a misunderstanding.
Streets were packed with shoppers and tourists when the cabbie struck, but quickly emptied. Now the morbidly fascinated have returned, to see exactly what part and parcel of living in a city run by Sadiq Khan looks like.
A spokesman for the Met Police said: “Police were called at 17:01hrs on Wednesday, 1 November to reports of a taxi in collision with pedestrians in Southampton Street, WC2.”
The driver of the taxi was detained by police, but the Mayor promises to have him back out on the streets in time for final prayers.
